Terrorist Events Worldwide 2022

This is from the February 2024 edition of the Mensa Bulletin:

Edward Mickolus is an author you might be beginning to think of as an old friend, as I do because he sends in so many titles for review.

This time he’s provided Terrorist Events Worldwide 2022.  I’ve previously reviewed the same title for 2019-20 and 2021, but he has published 26 books chronicling terrorist events from the 1960s to this most recent one. The reports in this book come from public sources.

Two others of his large output I particularly liked were Stories from Langley: A Glimpse Inside the CIA and Spycraft for Thriller Writers.  Mickolus spent 33 years working for the CIA, so he speaks and writes with the voice of authority.

His chapter titles include Activities of Key Terrorist Groups, Regional Developments, Trends in Terrorist and Counterterrorist Techniques, Africa, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America, and Updates of pre-2022 incidents.

In the introduction, he writes, “The as-of-this-writing ongoing conventional war pitting Russian invaders against Ukrainian defenders of their homeland diverted much of the world’s attention from other forms of political violence.”

Still, there was enough information for Mickolus to fill 200 pages including an update on the trials of the Jan.6 attackers on the U.S. Capitol. Visit edwardmickolus.com.
